Following the completion of his schooling in 1991, Michael spent a year in Oregon, USA as a Rotary Exchange Student. In 1995, he completed his BCom degree from Rhodes University, majoring in Industrial Psychology and Management. Michael spent 18 months working for a bank, before getting into recruitment. In 1997, he began his recruitment career with Kelly Services where he was responsible for temporary and permanent recruitment across a wide range of disciplines. Michael left South Africa in 2000 and joined Hays Personnel Services. He spent 12 months recruiting permanent accounting roles in Brisbane CBD and accepted an offer to move to the Gold Coast to assist with opening a new office.
While his main focus was accounting, office support and executive roles, Michael found himself using his wide range of skills and knowledge to recruit various generalist roles. He was instrumental in securing a number of key clients through his persistence and solid customer and candidate service. In August 2003, Michael founded Trend Personnel, as he saw the need for a quality recruitment solution on the Gold Coast, one which could offer additional business and value added services rarely seen on the Gold Coast. The strength of Trend Personnel is that much of our business is referral business, which indicates the level of service we provide.
Michael is firmly settled on the Gold Coast with his wife and 3 children.
